Derek is a seasoned professional in the building controls industry with over 33 years of experience.

With a remarkable career spanning over three decades, Derek is a true veteran in the building controls industry. 

His journey began in the esteemed ranks of the Royal Air Force (RAF), where he cultivated invaluable skills in electrical and electronic systems, working extensively on diverse aircraft, instrumentation, and electrical systems.

In 1990, Derek transitioned into the dynamic world of building controls, embarking on a path that led him to specialise in building energy management systems. 

His early days saw him aligned with Satchwell controls, a renowned institution known for setting the industry standard with comprehensive training.

Throughout the years, Derek’s expertise has expanded across a spectrum of Building Management Systems, computer technology, networks, and programming. 

His unwavering commitment to innovation and progress has been evident through his pivotal roles in co-founding two prominent BMS companies, each bearing a strong legacy of success.

With a rich tapestry of experience and an unyielding passion for advancement, Derek’s vision has culminated in the establishment of his own endeavour, BMS Scotland.
